Tantalising Textures 

This is a detail from a panel entitled 'Sinagua', based on the rocks of Arizona.

The base is traditional felt, on which I have applied a variety of media, fabrics, stitching and sculptural beadwork.

Participants will learn techniques which will enable them to interpret their own source of inspiration in a textural way.

Beginners Workshop

Participants will learn how to make basic felt, incorporating various fibres, fabrics and yarns to add texture.

A small purse without seams and felt beads will also be covered.

Intermediate Workshop

 This workshop will cover half felt and the making of patterns, cobweb felt and webs. 

Fashion Bags

Learn how to make bags with pockets and flaps, with no seams or stitching.  Embellish the bag with needle felting .

 Nuno Felt

Learn how to make Nuno felt, incorporating various fibres. This method produces a very soft, lightweight fabric which drapes easily. Participants can make a Nuno felt scarf with wool and silk chiffon, if desired. Photograph below.

The Art of Bead Embroidery

Learn the art of bead embroidery while making a pendant or cuff. You will be learn how to design the pendant, the materials to use and the various stitches and edgings.

This workshop is suitable for all abilities.
