Usually my inspiration comes from nature and the landscape, I love colour and texture and the natural world has an abundance of these. Often I work intuitively from the image, rather than drawing designs. However, I do keep a sketchbook of ideas and photographs and sometimes hidden meanings and emotions are drawn from within me as I ponder the designs. I work mainly with hand-made felt and mixed media, often incorporating beads

About myself
In brief, when I left college, I taught in mainstream education, first in Secondary schools teaching maths and science and later in Primary schools. During the eighties and nineties I completed C&G Creative Study courses, Part 1 & 11, in Fashion and Embroidery. From 1995 to 2005, I taught OCN Crafts and C&G Creative Studies in Embroidery and Beadweaving in Leeds.
Now, I give lectures and do workshops with the Embroiderers' Guild and other organisations throughout England.  I have exhibited my work at various venues including the ICHF Fashion and Embroidery Show in Harrogate.
I was a tutor at The Great British Bead Show in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2009. My beadwork has appeared in The Beadworkers Guild Earring book, the Beadworkers Guild Necklace book, The Beadworkers Guild Journal and The Encyclopaedia of Beading Techniques by Sara Withers and Stephanie Burnham. I am the author of The  Beaders' Colour Mixing Directory, published in March 2007.
